SLLBV In The NewsRichard Valdez Elected Chair to the City of San Diego's Ethics Commission 2009 On July 11, 2008, Richard Valdez was voted vice-chair of the City of San Diego’s Ethics Commission. The Ethics Commission is composed of seven members appointed by the Mayor from a pool of nominees nominated by the San Diego City Council and confirmed by the Council. The Commission is charged with monitoring, administering and enforcing the City’s governmental ethics laws, including state and local laws governing campaign contribution limits, campaign contribution disclosure, campaign expenditure disclosure, conflicts of interest, lobbying registration and disclosure, and other matters proposed by the Ethics Commission and adopted by a majority of the City Council. Richard was appointed to the Ethics Commission by Mayor Jerry Sanders in July 2007 and confirmed by the City Council. His term continue through July 2011. |
