Ed Silverman is certified as a specialist in appellate law by the State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization and has been included among the San Diego appellate attorneys honored by Super Lawyers® magazine every year since 2008.  He is admitted to practice before all state and federal appellate courts in the State of California, as well as the United States Supreme Court and the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit in Washington, D.C. He graduated from the UCLA School of Law in 1977, having received his undergraduate degree with high honors from the University of Michigan.  After law school, Ed clerked for a federal district judge in San Diego for two years and then worked at the San Diego branch office of a large international law firm for five years where he represented clients in complex commercial litigation. For the next 16 years from 1987 through 2002, Ed was a trial and appellate attorney with Procopio, Cory, Hargreaves & Savitch LLP. In recent years, Ed is also an adjunct professor at the University of San Diego, receiving the prestigious Huffman Award in recognition of professional and academic achievement in 2011. In acknowledgement of the pro bono legal services he has provided to the indigent, Ed received the California State Bar’s Wiley Manuel Award on 11 occasions and the San Diego Volunteer Lawyer Program Distinguished Service Award in 1998.
